The History of Lancaster
1976
Lancaster Office Cleaning Company was founded by brothers Raymond and Ken Lancaster, predominately operating in small factories and offices around the south east of London.
1979
Lancaster started cleaning in the financial and professional sector.
1980
Through steady expansion Lancaster advances their cleaning and support services into the West End of London and Victoria.
1983
Lancaster continued their growth into the Strand area of London improving both the sustainability of the company and the overall turnover.
1986
Coinciding with ‘Big Bang’ Lancaster then progressed into the ‘Square Mile’.
1994
Lancaster expanded into larger Financial companies in the city, broadening horizons and producing year on year growth.
2000
Through brand recognition and reputation, Lancaster won a major Retail Bank contract.
2003
Lancaster established an important foothold in Canary Wharf and went on to become the predominant cleaning and support services vendor.
2005
Turnover reached £50m and over 4,000 employees.
2007
At the beginning of July 2007, Rentokil Initial purchased the majority shareholding of Lancaster Office Cleaning Company Limited. Lancaster is now an independent operating division of Rentokil Initial whilst retaining its limited company status.
2008
Lancaster open a new office and Training Academy – awarded a Golden Service Award for Best Training Academy in the UK.
2009
Lancaster continues to maintain the family company foundation, with a corporate outlook.
